Caroline has been involved in the sport of gymnastics since the age of 11 and later progressed into a coaching career at the age of 15 with Tall Oaks Gymnastics Club in Edinburgh, which later merged with West Lothian Acro. Caroline taught here for several years before beginning a new recreational section in 1996, soon to be known as Astro!! Astro began as a number of satellite classes across West Lothian and over the years has grown in membership and success. In July 2012 Astro moved into their own premises and this has all been imitated by the determination and ambition Caroline has for the club. She has introduced so many people to the sport and inspired a number of gymnasts to continue their involvement through coaching. Caroline has built the foundations (and more) of one of Scotland’s most progressive acrobatic clubs and continues to push for opportunities in all aspects of the sport. Caroline has considerable involvement within in each discipline here at Astro but her main focus is now within the senior competition group as well as supporting the overall management of Studio 23. Caroline is also the Chairperson of the Scottish Acrobatic Technical Panel.

Our club would not exist if it weren’t for Caroline and we certainly wouldn’t have the talented, motivated team we do now if she had not encouraged so many fellow Astroers to remain within the sport whether that is through display, competition, recreation or coaching. “The club has grown from strength to strength over the years and it’s amazing to see so many of West Lothian’s talented young people become a part of it all. I’ve seen many people come and go with great achievement but it’s even nicer to see some gymnasts stay, learn to coach and pass back their knowledge and experience to our future stars, our Astro family.”
